Porta Finance advises Silmäasema on acquisition of Eagle Vision optical stores in Estonia

07 May, 2024

The Finnish company Silmäasema Optiikka has acquired Eagle Vision, a chain of optical stores in Estonia with a track record of over 25 years. All six stores will continue under Eagle Vision brand.

Silmäasema is a market leader in various eye health and vision care services in Finland. The acquisition of Eagle Vision strengthens the company’s position in Estonia.

"Our goal is to combine proven practices from Finland with local service and create a unique offering also in Estonia. Eagle Vision is a strong and reputable brand that offers many opportunities for this," said Merliin Orumaa, Silmäasema’s Estonian regional manager.

Erik Pree, former owner of Eagle Vision, believes that good and strong partnerships are very important for success in the highly competitive optical market. "We are happy that Silmäasema will become the owner of Eagle Vision. The transaction will strengthen our position on the Estonian optical market and help us to grow even more in the future. I am looking forward to what we can achieve together under the Eagle Vision brand in the future," added Pree.

In addition to Eagle Vision, Silmäasema owns another Estonian optical company. Tallinna Optika with five stores was acquired by the Finnish company in 2017 and still operates under the name Tallinna Optika.

Porta Finance acted as an exclusive financial adviser to Silmäasema on the acquisition.

Silmäasema has 140 stores and 16 eye hospitals across Finland, and 11 stores in Estonia. In total, about a thousand eye specialists serve the company’s customers. Each year, Silmäasema conducts around 210,000 optician eye examinations, 190,000 ophthalmologist appointments, and over 25,000 eye surgeries. Established in 1975, Silmäasema became a part of the Coronaria Group in late 2019.
